Cheap Trains in Hungary and Cz Rep with Slovak ISIC

6/6/2015

Imagen
Well, student discounts are not just in Slovakia, in Czech Republic, many times you can pretend as Czech student with the Slovak ISIC and get a 50% discount in your ticket, In Hungary, students will have discount in the return ticket, meaning that if you go for example, Budapest-Pecs and buy at the same time Pecs-Budapest you will have -60% discount, very useful because trains in Hungary are more expensive than in the previous countries.

Also in Slovakia not all trains are for free: RegioJet, the private owned more modern trains (actually the diference is not huge, since national trains are quite good) offers a -50% discount, but there is no way to get it for free.

Extra bag in plane cabin

3/24/2015

I'm going to tell you a small trick to have some extra space in plane cabin (taking it to the seat) in case you ran out of it due to baggage restrictions. Since last years, most companies (such as Ryanair, Wizzair...) allow you to carry a bag from the airport Duty Free shop, and they dont check what is inside and even do not measure it, so you can put clothes, presents, souvenirs in there and you won't have any space problem.

In order to get the bag, you should buy a heavy cheap thing, such a plastic bottle of water and that will do the trick!

WizzAir Discount Club

1/15/2015

Picture
Today I will talk about, what in my opinion, is the best membership deal in European airlines. Wizzair offers the possibility of joining the Discount Club, what means that for 30€ per year (you can have it just one year), you and 1 person traveling in the same flight with you will get at least -10€ from the flight price, which in a normal 2 person go/return flight you will already save 10€.
This is specially useful if you are in Central European countries such as Austria, Cz Rep, Poland and specially Hungary (where the airline is based). The destinations are wide too: From Israel to Russia, Turkey, Spain...

But there is even more, if you follow the Wizzair Facebook page oftenly, you will become aware of the offers they make everymonth such as a full 20% discount for members, flights go/return 34€ (Budapest-Tel Aviv for example) and baggage deals.

So, if you plan to travel with Wizzair at least 2 times or with somebody, consider joining the club!

FREE Trains for Students in Slovakia

10/14/2014

Picture
This are good news for Slovak people as well as Erasmus or other foreigners living in Slovakia. National trains are freesince 17 of November 2014 all over the country, meaning that you can go for example from Ukraine to Austria for free, or to ski in the High Tatras mountains without paying anything else than forfait and rental. Also, is the best new for all those Slovak students who live in a different town than Bratislava, since now going home will be much cheaper.
Be ready to know every corner of this country!

To get your transport card you need:
Valid Slovak ISIC Card
ID or Passport
Physical presence in the train station (Hlavná Stianica)

Once there, go to customer office (not to the normal ticket desk) and ask about it, it should take no longer than 5 minutes and you will be given a plastified card with your data and a QR code, and with that you are ready to travel for free.
So far I didn't heard about any deadline to get it, but don't take long to get it.
