 Hello! This time I will make a fast make-your-own-trip guide for seeing what is one of my favourites cities in Europe saving a lot of money!! Specially if you live in a neighbour city like Brno, Bratislava, Wien...First of all: Yes, Budapest is cheap, if you avoid very turistical prices you can buy things cheaper than many countries in western europe, but expect a 20% cheaper, don't think that you will be rich with 50 euro, it's a central european country and a capital after all. Sleeping in Budapest is extremely cheap, you can find beds from 3,9€ or 6€ if you want to be in a big shared room, or around 11€ if you want a more calm room. I will post some examples, that I found with just 10 minutes of searching in Hostelworld.com. I also add the guesthouse where I was last time, Zrinyi Guesthouse, from 9€ per day, you are in a decent hostel in the most beautiful Budapest square, just one minute from the chain bridge. I also post a map picture locating the walkable centre and the limit where you should book a hostel, because if you need to walk 20 minutes to get to the center everyday, it worths paying 2€ more and beign in the heart of the city. Also, even if you think that something is close in the map, is not, Budapest buildings are quite big (you will see many huge buildings, like the one in front of Parliament), so plan well when you want to go somewhere in time. This time I was in a hostel in the real centre of Budapest, 20 metres from main metro station. It's name is Captain Budapest and I strongly recomend it. It has confortable beds, which big lockers and also the staff is awesome, organizing parties, pubcrawls and free traditional dinners. Budapest also features awesome architecture and many interesting things to see, like the castle, cathedral... but in your hostel or hotel they will provide you with all kind of guides and maps, so let's stick to what you need to know in advance. I also participated in a free tour (organized by Free Walking Tours Budapest) which starts every morning from Vorosmarty square. They explained us many things about the city and Hungary, making it fun at the same time so I highly recomend it. If you think Budapest is a boring old classical city you are totally mistaken, is full of young people, with many different styles, and it has some of the best pubs and discos in Europe, specially the RuinPubs, like Szympla (http://www.szimpla.hu/ ), which will be something that you would have never seen before. This place has also an awesome an original Sunday morning market from 12 am. I also recomend For Sale pub (its desing full of post-it and peanuts will feature in many of your FB and Instagram pictures), but this one is for having a beer after you have lunch in the Budapest food market. Also one of the most original clubs (for dancing) is Instant, which also has the RuinClub feeling and has more than 5 different kinds of music inside (and it's entrace is free) And finally the transport, It's quite ok to go and back to Budapest specially from here (Bratislava), I saw tickets from 16 €, for bus and train, and can take from 2-3h. Once in Budapest expect to pay around 1€ for every public transport ticket, and 450 Ft (1,5€ for the amazing #16 bus which goes from Deak Ferenc square to the top of Buda castle, saving you a lot of walk) You think I was finished? NO, the best is just about to come, apart from all the awesomeness above, Budapest has awesome Thermal Bathhouses, beign Szechenyi the most famous (a 19th century palace with a lot of different baths and a huge exterior one, warm even in cold winter), but there are plenty of options like Gellert (which reception also worths a visit if you have free time). But as I said, the best is coming.... Szechenyi baths each saturday become one of the best partyplaces you will ever been! Imagine bathing in the cold winter at 2 am while listening to awesome music, is priceless!! ( http://www.bathsbudapest.com/budapest-bath-parties ). I went there on 18 of Oct 2014 and I can say it was awesome, with enought safety measeures (You know, mixing alcohol and a swiming pool requires it), amazing music, and a unveliabable atmosphere. The price was 25 € but I say it worth it.
